See History of Isaac Ricks, taken from the History and Genealogy of the Ricks Family of America. A brief summary below:
The ancestral home of the family was at Brnacaster Castle, Norfolk County, England as early as 1525, the time of Henry the VIII. The first one of the name of this branch of the family was Isaac Ricks, who was born in England in 1638. (It is believed he came from England and landed at Jamestown, Virginia and settled in Warrasquyeake, one of the eight shires of Virginia, which was changed in 1737 to Isle of Wight County (and included the present counties of Nansemond and Southampton).
He was a member of the Quaker church located at a place called Chuckatuck on in Nansemond Co. His two sons, Robert and Abraham built the church in 1702, and Isaac attended the church often as the records show. Some of his children were probably born in England and some in Virginia -their births were recorded on the books of the Quaker church at Chuckatuck, Virginia. They were Quakers. His children's births are found listed on pgs. 18 and 97, Vol. XII of the Friends Books of Records from the old church which are deposited in Baltimore, Md. for safekeeping.
Some of the records were erased in the original but are still legible. Deaths are listed on pg. 207 in the same book. (taken from the publications of the Southern Historical Society.) The following is from pg. 207: "Isaac Ricks departed this life ye third day of the eleventh month, 1732." (This was without doubt Isaac, sen.) On pg. 7-8 it tells of an old family bible belonging to the Ricks family with several entries listed i it very likely recorded from memory by Isaac Sr. and somethings do not agree with the original records as recorded in the old church books. It was brought here by Isaac Sr. and probably has come down through Isaac Sr. and Richard when it was sold in 1779. (It had been out of the family for several years since it had been bought at the sale of one Richard Ricks in 1779, when it came back into the family.) One of the entries is that of "Isaac Ricks, Sr., died January 2, 1723, in the 85th year of his age."

The following is from pg. 7 of the publications of the Southern Historical Society, it is as written on the old church books, Friends Books of Records, pg. 207, Vol. XII:
"Catherine Ricks departed this lifre ye eighth month in the year 1717." (She was probably the wife of Isaac, sen.)
The following is from pg. 7-8 from an entry recorded in the old Bible of Isaac Ricks. It may not agree with the original records as recorded in the old church books and was very likely recorded from memory by Isaac Sen.: "Catherine Ricks, wife of Isaac Ricks, died October, 1717."
